*educational system:how to successfully attain and advocate for the implementation of an IEP/504 plan/special education services for your child

*legal system: how to reacclimate and successfully connect with resources (job, clothing, housing, etc) and reintegrate into a supportive community as a returning citizen/ex-offender

*mental health/behavioral health system: how to connect with the best therapist, psychiatrist, inpatient/outpatient services for me

Chicagoland Community Resource Guide

Thank you for visiting the Chicagoland Community Resource Guide created by Dr. Ngonzi Truth Crushshon and www.drtruthandassociates.com This guide was created to increase awareness in the Chicagoland community of available resources and services for individuals and families. Knowledge is POWER! If you find these resources helpful, please spread the word. If you are a business owner, agency or employer and would like to be included in the resource guide please email ncrushshon@gmail.com or 312-409-9371.

Having worked in Community Mental Health for 14+ years, I am continuously being made aware of the dirth of resources in the inner city and/or lack of knowledge about resources available within the Chicagoland Community. This is an attempt to close the gap and to provide a central location and list of social service, mental health, healthcare, housing, educational, entrepreneurship, emergency/crisis services and other resources. Enclosed here are 200+ Community Resources!

Agency information and resources may change without our knowledge, please keep this in mind. We will attempt to keep this resource list current. We need your help if you have resources to add or remove from our list. Special thanks to all who have contributed to make this project a success – Kwabena Ernest Johnson for setting up our online page. #harambee Let’s pull together.

*DISCLAIMER: In the case of an EMERGENCY please call 911 or visit your nearest emergency room. Use these services/resources at your own risk. If you are not receiving the best services please discontinue use and inform the agency. If you are receiving excellent services please refer someone else and inform the agency. All of the aforementioned agencies and resources have some very good programs within them; however, like with anything, there are strengths and weaknesses. The goal for many of the agencies included on this list is to bring healing, wholeness, and restoration to a person, family, community; however, some of us (these agencies and people who work in them) are dealing with similar issues as the community (ie., insufficient resources, staffing challenges, personal concerns, etc.). Use wisdom, ask questions, request a referral from someone you trust and speak with former consumers while researching and using resources included within the Chicagoland Community Resource Guide.
